Cook FM : The Prep List

We love music, it's played in the kitchens and bakery long before the first guest arrives. Each team has its own tastes; and isn’t always what we would choose to listen to at home. In some more traditional kitchens music during prep time is frowned upon, we encourage it. A good tune can help achieve just the right flow state, where it feels like things are happening effortlessly, from mixing and shaping dough in the bread room to putting together a soulful sauce or smashing a big Friday prep list.

Each task has its own tempo and mood, oddly, I might like to listen to 90s hip hop while rolling out a batch of pasta, some like Prince in the viennoiserie room; it really is a case of each to their own. Sometimes, it’s enjoyable to listen to someone else’s music which may take you down a new road you hadn’t previously considered. We thought it would be fun to put together a little, completely unedited list of some kitchen favourites.
