A Solstice Walk in amongst the Stones

Cosmic Meandering

It is 28 degrees on the Warwickshire border. It is past 9pm. The unseasonal heat accentuates the fragrant air at the Rollright Stones, where the veil between reality and magic thins on this night, the summer Solstice.

The 72 jagged limestone stumps arranged in one large circle look like the giant jaws of a mystical creature leaping from a dark underworld struck motionless as if by an ancient spell, perhaps petrified by the first rays of the rising sun on a Solstice morning many millennia ago, when magic prevailed over reason.

The Solstice means different things to different people: the victory of light over darkness, the worship of nature's bounty, potential for new beginning and foundations for growth, embracing the cyclical rhythms of nature, trade, abundance, spirituality, renewal and more.

King Stone

Simply, it is an invitation to reconnect with ancient rituals & lores, to slow down and acknowledge the Land that the pace of modern life so often overlooks and under-appreciates. It is a time of quiet reflection and joyous manifestations, where magic imprints our lives with hope and intentions, a cosmic prayer to the universe, our inner worlds and ambitions amplified by the circular Stone portal.

And so as we advance into our collective humanhood journey, let us be inspired by the victorious light of the Solstice, let it penetrate our doubts and fill us with hope.
